Business Information Systems
Business Information Systems controls the databases and software which power our finance and human resource information. The databases are held on an IBM AS400 using the CIMS III finance system.
The department also handles queries, reports, and requests from Finance, Personnel, Human Resources, Risk Management, Support Services and Purchasing Departments. They also work with Support Services to oversee the bus scheduling software.
BIS uses the KRONOS Timekeeper System for clocking bus drivers' and aides' time in the Transportation Department. They have an in-house written Work Order System for Technical Services, Custodial, and Warehouse. The Transportation Department also uses a Fleet Management Application from HTE, Inc, which interacts with GASBOY Application for tracking fuel consumption in vehicles. BIS also maintains the in-house written Master Inservice Points Application for Staff Development to track employees' workshops and qualifying points.
