Participants will gain knowledge of Universal Design of Learning; explore methods of introducing Math and Science for Pre-K students. Participants will have a better understanding of Disability Awareness and Legal Ramifications when teaching children with disabilities.

3/05/13 PDA: Instructional Practices The PDA-ESE Instructional Practices module provides a very comprehensive study of effective instructional practices related to ensuring academic success for students with disabilities. Several of the key components in this module include: analysis of student assessment results for use in instructional decision making, review of multiple strategies and practices for the acquisition, generalization, and maintenance of new learning, exploration of appropriate accommodations and/or modifications to enhance learning and meet the requirements of a student’s IEP. Issues involving effective methods of communication, consultation and collaboration with important educational partners are also covered.

7/16/13 SIM - Course Organizer Routine Course organizer - Learn to present and plan a course so students understand how the information is structured, activities sequenced, and how the information is connected. Develop a draft of a course organizer that includes key questions, critical vocabulary, expectations for behavior, and a progress tracking chart.

Become familiar and learn how to implement the Standing Up For Me curriculum to advance the self-determination and self-advocacy skills of youth in Exceptional Student Education (ESE).The newly revised 2012 version of this curriculum covers the primary, intermediate, middle and high school grades and includes classroom materials, activities, and evaluations.
