PARENTS ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE
SCHOOL SURVEYS

With parents taking more interest in their children’s education, Marion County Public Schools makes its latest Parent Survey available on the district website and at each school.
Users can visit www.marion.k12.fl.us and click on the Uncle Sam “Parent Survey” option along the left side. Users can then view the entire survey prior to completing it in either English or Spanish. Parents without computer access may complete a survey at their child’s school or at the Title I Office located at 306 NW 7 Ave. in Ocala. Surveys are also available on the Parent Portal website. All surveys must be completed by March 26, 2012.
Parent response helps the district and local schools increase parent involvement to better serve students, parents, and communities.
Parent involvement means the participation of parents is on-going, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including ensuring: 1) parents play an integral role in assisting with their child’s learning at school and at home; 2) parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s school education; 3) parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and advisory committees to assist in the education of their child; 4) the carrying out of other activities, such as those described in section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act; 5) parents have the district’s Parent Involvement Program; 6) School Improvement Plans, district and school Parent Involvement policies are based on findings from parent survey results; 7) school personnel meet the requirement to communicate the results of the survey to parents (e.g., discuss in School Advisory Committee meetings) and decide how to implement new strategies in the parent involvement policy’s revision; and 8) sharing district and individual school evaluation results with every school assists in building district-wide capacity.
