Class Objectives for Introduction to Information Technology
Upon course completion, the student will be able to:
-
Develop keyboarding skills to enter and manipulate text and data.

Describe and use current and emerging computer technology and software to perform personal and business related tasks.

Use reference materials such as on-line help, vendor bulletin boards, tutorials, and manuals available for application software.

Troubleshoot problems with computer hardware peripherals and other office equipment.

Describe ethical issues and problems associated with computers and information systems.

Demonstrate basic web design.

Demonstrate proficiency in the use of various software applications (i.e. MS Word, Web Browser, E-Mail, Presentation)
Software Used: Microsoft Word, Internet, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Publisher, HTML and Dreamweaver CS4
Classroom Rules:

Arrive to class on time.

Be prepared – Pen, Pencils, and USB Flash Drive.

Assignments will be handed in at the beginning of the period on the due date. Turn assignments in on your H: Drive.

If otherwise instructed place assignments in the appropriate drawer with your correct class period.

ONLYbottled water is allowed in the computer lab. You must place it on the counter located at the left and right side along the wall of the classroom.
-
Absolutely NO food or open containers are allowed near the computers.

Horseplay is NOT ALLOWED in the classroom, and INNAPROPRIATE online computer use is strictly PROHIBITED and will result in disciplinary action.

Please raise your hand to speak when asking a question or participating in a group discussion.

Teacher permission and a pass are required if leaving the classroom.
-
Teacher permission, sign bathroom exit/return time sheet, take bathroom pass with you.
-
Observe courtesy and respect for others at all times.
-
Cheating will not be tolerated and will result in a zero in the grade book.

Cell phones, IPOD, MP3 players, or electronic devices are to remain off and out of site during class.

Course Evaluation: Grades will be based on daily work, tests, and participation in cooperative activities.
35% Daily work, and participation
15% Quizzes
30% Tests
20% Projects
• A = 90-100%
• B = 80 - 89%
• C = 70 - 79%
• D = 60 - 69%
• F = 59% and below
Points for daily work and tests/quizzes will be accumulated throughout the semester and converted to a percentage that will be recorded in the grade book.
