The Howard Middle School staff facilitates maximum academic achievement, promotes trust and compassion, and challenges students to gain and apply knowledge in the pursuit of lifelong learning.
SCHOOL PROFILE
Description:
Howard Middle School is located on 34 acres in west Ocala. First opened in 1955 as Howard High School, it later became Hampton Community College and, in the 1969-1970 school year, was designated Howard Middle School. A 1991 building renovation and expansion included the addition of three classroom wings. The school has a rich academic excellence. Dedicated teachers work with students to achieve educational goals that support their futures. Innovative teaching and learning are encouraged, and students are served in a safe, well-disciplined environment.
Special Programs include
Advanced Academics Integrated Technologies (AAIT) Magnet Program, Gifted Education, ESOL Education, Art, Band, Spanish, Video Production, Career Technology (Tech Studies, Business Computer Applications, Health Occupations), and Journalism Yearbook.
Extracurricular:
Before and after school enrichment includes activities such as Academic Team, Art Club, Athletics (Volleyball, Track, Basketball; Seasonal)Homework Help and Tutoring, Jazz and Ensemble Band, Studio 2B, Youth Achievers, National Junior Honor Society, Math Counts, Ecology Club, Science Club, and many more!

Howard Middle's school colors are blue and gold. Our mascot is a bull.
