CLASS GOALS:

+ Students will meet or exceed state, county, and school standards.

+ Students will achieve grade level mastery in reading, writing, listening, viewing, speech, language, and literature.

+ Students will learn to express themselves creatively and academically in a learning-safe, collaborative environment.

 

CONTENT OVERVIEW:

+ Students will engage in a multifaceted approach to various literary genres.

+ Emphasis is given to reading and writing skills for success on the 10th grade FCAT testing and in life.

Throughout the year, students will learn pre-reading, during reading, and after reading strategies to aide in comprehension and analysis. Students will also practice pre-writing outlines, drafts, peer editing, and critiques of academic writing.

+ Please be familiar with the rules and regulations set forth by the student handbook.

+ Be courteous, kind, and respectful to yourself, the teacher, and others.

+ Ask permission before leaving the classroom and sign out with a hall pass.

+ Avoid disrupting the class; we are here to learn.

+ Be prepared with the appropriate materials.

+ Complete all assignments in a timely manner.

+ Use appropriate language.

+ Be in your seat and ready to begin on time.

+ If you are absent, check the website for missed work.


Materials Needed:

Students will need the following:

+ Pens: blue or black

+ #2 pencils

+ A student planner

+ A notebook that is used specifically for this class.

Optional materials: colored pencils, sticky notes, highlighters


Grading/Evaluation:

 

Grades consist of classwork, homework, and  assessments.

Grading Scale:

100-90%= A

  89-80%= B

  79-70%= C

  69-60%= D

   59-0 %= F
