Social Studies Project: Creating a Brochure – Our Community April 29, 2013
Students will create a brochure called “Our Community.” The brochure will describe their community and the things it has to offer people who are considering moving to their city.
Last week, the students completed a chapter in the Civics book on “Citizenship in the Community.” The lessons included: The Different Kinds of Communities, Purposes for Communities, and How Citizens Serve Communities. They were taught that communities teach values and provide services. These services include public safety, education, public utilities, and recreation.
