Welding I

Learn basic welding skills through this semester long course. This course covers welding theory, and hands-on welding techniques to help you become an employable welder. The specific areas of focus are Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc (GMAW) and Flux Cored Arc welding (FCAW) processes. Student may earn welding certifications in these processes and may re-enroll in the course if necessary to achieve welding objectives.
Welding II

This is an advanced welding course which specifically focuses on GTAW and pipe welding. This course covers welding theory and includes hands-on welding experience to allow students to master their trade. Those with documented welding experience seeking employment as in GTAW and pipe welding are strongly encouraged to register for this course. Student may earn welding certifications in these processes and may re-enroll in course to achieve welding objectives.
Electrical Wiring

This introductory electrical course is designed for anyone desiring to enter the electrical field. Students will learn basic electricity, electrical related math and the basics of residential electrical wiring through classroom lecture and discussion as well as hands-on learning opportunities. Students will build a residential electrical circuit to exemplify classroom learning. Anyone pursuing entry level employment in the electrical field, or desiring basic knowledge of electricity is strongly encouraged to take this course.
Applied Welding Technology

The Applied Welding Technology program comprises six courses which focus on welding theory, application, safety and employability skills. Students have an opportunity to earn certifications in shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux cored arc and tungsten arc, pipe welding as well as 10 –hour OSHA Safety. Financial Assistance is available.
Electrical Apprenticeship
Program Coordinator, Earl Scott
Instructor(s): Gary Crandon, Greg Ratliff, Steve Sutton, and Bobby Dempsey
This four-year program is designed so that a participant may become a trained, licensed, journeyman electrician. It is divided into two major parts:
- A paid, on-the-job training with a local electric company, where the student gains practical knowledge of the trade. The on-the-job work experience is a typical 40-hour work week at an entry-level wage.
- Classroom instruction, where the student learns the technical aspects of the trade. The classroom instruction is held two evenings per week, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- A regular high school diploma or GED
- A valid Florida drivers license
- At least 18 years of age
- A resume of work experience
- Hired by a local electrical program
- Availability of space in the program
- Meets the basic skills requirement of 9th grade level on Form A of the TABE test in math, reading, and language
- Applicant must be drug free
