Commemorates the most basic freedom in a democratic society--the freedom to read freely--and encourages us not to take this freedom for granted.

 

Tenth Graders met award-winning author, Neal Shusterman on October 9, 2012!

215 DHS students attended presentation by National Best-Selling Author, Neal Shusterman, during his Fall Book Tour which brought him to Florida!

Teen Read Week

Seek the Unknown @ your library! This Teen Read Week™ (Oct. 13-19), YALSA dares teens to read for the fun of it! Teen Read Week is a time to celebrate reading for fun and to encourage teens to take advantage of reading in all its forms —books and magazines, e-books, audiobooks and more — and become regular library users.

 

Florida Teens Read Program

The mission of the program is to encourage Florida teens to read enjoyable, quality literature that will stimulate imagination, awaken curiosity, expand horizons, enhance verbal fluency, and foster critical thinking and a lifelong love for reading and learning.  http://www.floridamedia.org/?page=Flo_Teen_Nominations

Battle-of-the-Books Competition Team

Students who read all fifteen books listed at the link above are eligible to try out for the DHS Battle-of-the-Books Competition Team.   The competition will take place on April 30, 2013.  Dunnellon High's team members include Tunisha Chest-Moore, Krista Dowling, Amanda Oram, Danny Rodriguez, and Joseph Satiro. Good Luck to the Battle-of-the-Books Team! Go Tigers!
