English I Syllabus Current Assignments Past Assignments

Welcome DHS students! I am so happy to be here. My name is Ms. Rhoads and I will be teaching English I.  I was born in Pennsylvania,  in a little town outside of  Pittsburgh. I finished my university education at the University of Florida, and I have taught in Georgia, Arkansas, and Florida.

I love to read and write in my spare time, and I hope that my students will too.  We will all be doing plenty of both this year in my classes.  I hope that I can help my students not only enjoy these activities as much as I do, but my teaching will also help them enhance their skills in these areas. We must always think ahead to that exciting time in the future of college and careers and the skill that are necessary for both.

I also make jewelry, and I have a wild little rescue dog Simon, a terrier. For some reason, he likes to nibble on my jewelry beads, crystals and also my books, so I have my hands full with him. There are always plenty of books and beads for him to eat (I really do feed him dogfood!). He certainly makes life interesting for my elderly mother and me. I have traveled a great deal, but I must say that Dunnellon is one of the prettier towns that I've seen in my travels, and I'm glad to have finally landed here.

I will be available most afternoons for help sessions. Please let me know.  I want to know if there is something that you do not understand. My extension is 58263. I hope you had a wonderful summer and you are ready to work during this upcoming 2012-2013 school year.
