EMIT Community Service

  • Habitat for Humanity: Provides affordable housing to needy families. Families actually help with building their own home along with licensed contractors and volunteers from the community. Volunteers at your age level would be helping with laying sod, painting, clean up, and/or providing snacks or lunch to other volunteers.

Contact person: Susan Hicks 351-4663 - only call if unable to register online. Volunteer form will be signed at job site. Go to www.habitatocala.org and follow volunteer links.

  • University of Florida Pediatric Unit Child Abuse Prevention Project: Provides counseling and resources to families with history or high risk factors for child abuse/neglect.  There is an urgent need for diapers, wipes, gas cards, Walmart gift cards, educational supplies/toys, furniture, etc.  Volunteers could raise money doing chores, babysitting, garage sales, and donate it so items could be purchased for these at risk children.    All donations will be for Marion County families.

Contact person: Jeanette Khonsary (an EMIT mom) 812-6919 - call for pick up of items/money. Volunteer form will be signed at that time.
