As a school we are very excited to share with the Marion Oaks community the growth and proficiency levels our students earned. Florida public schools are graded in eight categories and the sum of the categorical scores determines the school grade. Horizon Academy made gains in each of the eight categories this past year. Based on the points earned Horizon Academy has been named an “A” school.

Families are encouraged to turn in clothing items, clean and in good condition, to the school to be redeemed in the fall for other clothing items that have been donated to the program. Horizon Academy History

Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks opened its doors to fourth and fifth graders in January 2008. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders arrived on August 18, 2008.

The new $37 million facility, which began construction in October of 2006, features 57 academic classrooms in three two-story buildings. Using a learning “community” concept, students also take advantage of a new cafeteria, gymnasium, music suite, and media center. Administrative offices at the front and center of campus round out the 180,000-square-foot facility. Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks is the first school in Marion County built with half-cent sales tax dollars.

Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks currently hosts fifth through eighth grades on its campus.
