Welcome to Hammett Bowen, Jr.
Elementary School

Front of school

Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary is an "A" school this year and we made AYP(Adequate Yearly Progress)! Our students, staff, and parents worked as a team and we were successful. We will continue to strive for excellence. Our vision at Hammett Bowen is to provide an educationally rich environment where each individual of the school is valued, respected, and encouraged to reach his/her fullest potential as a productive citizen.

At Hammett Bowen, our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment that embraces the cultural and educational diversity of students and staff; while promoting an environment where learning is valued, nurtured, and where stakeholders are motivated to do their personal best. Self-discipline and high expectations will be reflected in all aspects of the school community; in behavior, student work, and meaningful relationships that are built between students, families, and the staff. Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary is a model for a strong school and community program dedicated to educating the whole child.

Notice to Parents and Guardians

There are safety procedures regarding visitor/volunteer sign-in. A computer system in the front office requires visitors/volunteers to enter his/her name and choose a reason for being on campus. The system then automatically prints out a name badge. You MUST show a current picture ID when signing in. Keep this information in mind when visiting and please allow for the extra time needed when signing in. Also, remember that visitors are required to sign out through this system, since it keeps track of each visitor's time spent on campus. Thank you for your patience!

School Safety

Hammett Bowen Elementary School is concerned about safety - bus safety, parking lot safety, playground safety, grounds safety, and personal safety. Please don't be offended if we ask you to park in a different location, walk inside the crosswalk, or show a picture ID when picking up a child. We all have to show our children we are concerned about safety issues.

Additionally, parents are not allowed to walk their children to class in the morning or pick them up at the classroom at the end of the school day. Walkers who are met by parents are to be picked up at the west side of the school on the sidewalk area and must have a school issued card with them in order to get their child. Parents must remain in the car line with a school-issued pick-up card visible through their front windshield. These cards are available at the front desk.

Parents, this is just a reminder that students can arrive at 7:20 AM. They can go to the cafeteria until 7:25 AM. We are serving breakfast until 7:40 AM. Those who arrive after that will not be able to eat breakfast so please be on time. Students who are car riders in the afternoon need to be picked up no later than 2:30 PM. Thank you again for your assistance.

We're bragging on our Bears! Check out the Brag Board to see what our teachers and students are up to!
