Mission Statement

The Marion Technical Institute Student Services office is dedicated to empowering all students to achieve academic success, personal wellness, and career and educational satisfaction. Every student should complete MTI having gained the knowledge and skills necessary to link current academic and personal choices to their career pathways. Our department strives to remove barriers to learning and provide opportunities and support to students as they embrace their full potential and prepare for success in the futuristic world of work.

We believe student support services are a responsibility of all educators.

What Services Are Available:

Guidance services are offered in large groups, small groups and individually to implement support students through providing:

  • Course planning that support career goals
  • Links to world of work through coordination with Internship Department
  • Future career trends

PERSONAL WELLNESS:

  • Improving the understanding of self and others
  • Developing peer, teacher, and parent communication skills
  • Increasing effective coping strategies
  • Strengthening skills in problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Providing behavior or social intervention if requested and needed
  • Advising as to career pathways based on skill sets
  • Making referrals and linking students and families to services

  • Access your transcripts online: Log on for your High School Academic Evaluations! It’s easy. Just follow these steps:
    • 1. Go to www.FACTS.org.
    • 2. Click on High School Academic Evaluations.
    • 3. Choose New User- Create Login ID & Password.
    • 4. Complete the short form (personal data such as your name, birthdate, and SSN/Florida Student Identifier Number must match official school records exactly).
    • 5. Create your Login ID & Password.
    • 6. Click on Submit.

BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP : http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/ : The Florida Bright Futures Program provides lottery-funded scholarships for Florida high school graduates with high academic achievement who enroll in eligible Florida public or private colleges or universities. The Bright Futures Scholarship Program is the umbrella program for all state-funded scholarships based on academic achievement in high school. Included under this umbrella is the Florida Academic Scholars Award, the Florida Medallion Scholars Award, and the Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award. *Criteria is determined by the State Legislature.

PERT TESTING: http://www.fldoe.org/cc/pert.asp The Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) is Florida's customized common placement test. The purpose of the P.E.R.T. is accurate course placement based on the student's skills and abilities. The P.E.R.T. is aligned with the Postsecondary Readiness Competencies identified by Florida faculty as necessary for success in entry-level college credit coursework. The P.E.R.T. assessment system includes Placement and Diagnostic tests in mathematics, reading and writing.
