Welcome to
Maplewood Elementary School!

"Every Child, Every Day"

Maplewood Elementary is a school where all children can learn. All children are given the opportunity to explore and develop to their fullest potential. Each child's environment is structured to develop a sense of self-worth and to motivate children to be lifelong learners.

Beyond academic excellence, our success is founded upon treating each child as a unique and special person. With this foundation, our ultimate success is measured by the number of students who learn to accept and understand the differences within each person.

Maplewood is a child-centered school where students learn, work and play side-by-side . . . for success!

Federal and state laws require all public school districts to annually compile School Public Accountability Reports. The NCLB-SPAR report contains information about the progress of Florida’s public schools.  In addition, the report details how well our district and schools are meeting the federal requirements of NCLB. This report also reflects our progress toward meeting State Standards.

Marion County Public Library System is working hard to plan enriching and exciting adventures for your students so they can avoid the summer slide.

Our system- wide annual summer reading program begins in June and continues through the month of July. This summer’s theme is “Every Hero Has a Story” and is designed for kids from ages six through twelve.  Fun stories, crafts, games and activities are planned. Children can attend “Hero Boot Camp”, learn to draw comics from sequential artists and meet some animal heroes from Florida Teaching Zoo. We have partnered with Marion County Parks to have a “Heroes Unite at the Park” day at Carney Island Recreation and Conservation Area that will allow free admission with a library card.

Summer is quickly approaching and Maplewood has great news for you!

There are several computer based educational programs that will be available to your child over the summer. Maplewood is strongly encouraging all of our students to continue using these programs through the summer. The Marion County student portal (https://desktop.marion.k12.fl.us/) will be available for students to log into programs such as; FASTT Math through the end of June, Go Math, National Geographic, and CCC videos. If your child does not know how to access their student portal, please contact the school. Students can also utilize the IXL program to practice math facts and select language arts skills. In addition, students can access the Type to Learn program for enhancing keyboard/typing skills. Students who reach 10 total hours of use between both the IXL and Type to Learn programs will be rewarded at the start of the school year. Please take advantage of the free summer reading program offered by your local Marion County Public Library; call 352-671-8551 for more information.
