Parent Corner

Hello Maplewood Families!

Another year is upon us and flying by quickly. The PTO has been busy electing new officers and welcoming new members. I hope you are one of them!  We are also busy doing fundraisers and helping our teachers, staff and students wherever possible. If you would like to become a PTO member, it is never too late. You can join for as little as $5. You can ask the front office for a membership form to be sent home with your child. The money we raise through membership or fundraisers goes right back into our teacher’s classrooms, rewards for our students, and provides our teachers and staff with a Teacher/Staff Luncheon as well as treats during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Please consider being a PTO member today!

Some great activities are already behind us. Our annual Fall Festival was a fun success. PTO hopes that you came out and enjoyed all the activities including the pie in the face booth! We also had a very successful fundraiser through Yankee Candle. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported PTO and Maplewood through the Fall Festival and by purchasing items through Yankee Candle.

Our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon this year is scheduled for April 9th at The Braised Onion. You will have the opportunity in the near future to “Adopt a Teacher or School Employee”. Your child will be bringing home these adoption papers in the month of March. These adoptions will provide a hard working teacher or school employee a relaxing lunch at The Braised Onion. This is your opportunity to show your child’s teacher or any other school employee how much you appreciate all they do in the lives of students each year.  If you have any gift certificates or gift baskets that you would like to donate, we will gladly accept those for door prizes at the luncheon.

Not able to donate money? No problem! May 5th through 9th is our annual Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. This is the week each year that we provide our teachers and staff with store bought as well as homemade treats each morning. PTO will provide forms sent home with your child that allow you to choose a day and treat that works best for you. This is just another opportunity PTO provides for you to show how much you appreciate all the hard work that goes into making Maplewood a successful learning environment for your student. If you own a business and would like to sponsor a day during this week, please contact us at

Please keep sending in those Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels for Education, and empty ink cartridges. All of these provide resources that go right back into the teacher’s classroom or benefit our students directly. We have another Sonny’s Night coming up on March 11th. Look for those flyers to come home with your student in March.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please email us at Maplewood also has a facebook page. Be sure to like us on facebook to keep up with all the latest news and announcements regarding Maplewood and Maplewood’s PTO.

Thank you to all the families, teachers, and staff that support PTO and help to make it successful. Please continue to stand side by side with us for success at Maplewood!
