Clubs and Organizations

Join a Club or Organization!

Our purpose is to provide co-curricular organizations and activities to permit all interested students an opportunity to participate. Every effort is made to avoid membership requirements that would prevent this participation.

Student Membership Requirements:

Students are encouraged to join and participate in teams, clubs and organizations. Membership requirements are contained in each club's constitutions and by-laws; there are general requirements regarding eligibility for membership in any sport, club or organization.

In accordance with Marion County School Board and established school policies, certain requirements must be met by the individuals involved in activity programs.

These are as follows:
1. All students involved in activities must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA (9th and 10th graders may sign a "contract" in specific situations) and meet the club's requirements. Freshmen must have been "promoted" from 8th grade. Students may not have a fine on the "debt list".
2. Students involved in any activities, whether on or off campus, are governed by the Marion County Code of Student Conduct.
3. Students must complete a student participation and Parental Approval Form prior to joining any club.

Student Participation Guidelines:

A student may hold the office of president for one(1) club/organization only per school year. However, a student is not limited to the number of other offices he/she may hold in other clubs; i.e. treasurer, secretary, etc. In addition to the grade point average requirement, a good discipline and attendance record are important. A student is not to attend a club or school-sponsored function on days when he/she has not attended school. It is the sponsor's responsibility to enforce this policy.

Purpose:
The North Marion High School Anchor Club is all about friendship and service. We participate in many fun events throughout the school year. Membership in an Anchor Club allows young women to make a dynamic difference in their world through volunteer service...and have FUN while helping others. Anchors learn valuable skills that prepare them to be good citizens for the rest of their lives. They have opportunities to lead and organize service projects and play active roles in club programs. Often they work side by side with their sponsoring Pilot Clubs to promote awareness and provide hands on service to people with Brain-Related Disorders. Since Pilot International was chartered in 1921, Pilot Clubs have undertaken service projects involving young people and their needs. In 1952, Pilot adopted the program of sponsoring Anchor Clubs. Anchor is now 50 years old and is made up of over 10,000 members. Anchor Clubs can be found throughout the United States, Bahamas, Japan and Argentina. Anchor Clubs take many forms - some are affiliated with schools; some are not. Some are all female; some are coed. Some are large; some are small. Some clubs in the US are in organized Anchor Districts. Anchor members discover the importance of working together--no single member can accomplish the service that the members can as a team.
Requirements:
Anchor's are held to a high standard of scholarship and community service. Anchors are required to have and maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Anchors must also complete 2 hours of community service a month, although many of our girls exceed this expectation. In addition to early release club meeting days, we also meet once a month. Many of our fundraising and community service activities take place outside of school hours. Teacher recommendations and student management records are also taken into consideration.
