Kindergarten Students will participate in Stagger Start the first three days of school.  Each student will only attend school one day between August 17 - 19.  All Kindergarten students will attend beginning August 20.

At Ocala Springs, our mission is to provide a strong academic foundation in a safe elementary school. We will strive every day to develop students who will contribute to our community. Staff members will take advantage of professional development to implement high effect-size instructional strategies in the classroom. We will collaborate with each other, our parents and the community to support our students' needs and help them to be successful not just for today, but tomorrow.

At Ocala Springs, our vision is to develop "productive citizens of tomorrow." We will continue to provide a strong foundation as a "spring board" for our students to be successful in middle & high school, and on to a higher education; in their personal daily lives, and in society.


School Safety

Safety is a priority.. Please don't be offended if we ask you to park in a different location, walk inside the crosswalk, or show a picture ID when picking up a child. We all have to show our children we are concerned about safety issues.

Additionally, parents are not allowed to walk their children to class in the morning or pick them up at the classroom at the end of the school day. Car riders are to be picked up at the front of the school.  Parents must remain in the car line with a school-issued car dashboard sign visible through their front windshield. The official car signs are available at the front desk.

***Notice to Parents and Guardians*** There are safety procedures regarding visitor sign-in. A computer system in the front office, Vsoft, requires visitors to have their driver's license or government ID scanned and a name badge issued before entering the campus. Please keep this information in mind when visiting and please allow for the extra time needed when signing in. Also, remember that visitors are required to sign out through this system, since it keeps track of each visitor's time spent on campus. Thank you for your patience!


School Procedures

Visitors on Campus

We welcome all parents, volunteers, and visitors on campus that are here on legitimate business. The procedure to follow is as such:

  •  All visitors will check in the front office.
  • If a visitor is checking out a child or coming to have lunch, a picture identification must be shown and verified with the students’ emergency form.
  • The visitor’s ID will electronically be scanned and the visitor will receive a yellow sticker to wear on campus.
  • Employees have been instructed to stop anyone without this sticker identification.
  • The visitor must come back up to the office to sign out and return the yellow name tag.

Checking a Student Out of School

  • All visitors will check in the front office.
  • A picture identification must be shown and verified with the students’ emergency form.
  • The student will be called to the office to be dismissed. Students may not be checked out after 1:35 PM.
  • Visitors are not permitted to go to classrooms to pick up children.


Changing the Way a Student Goes Home

For safety reasons, it is very important that you and your child know how your child gets home daily. It is understandable that in some cases, this must change. When this occurs, the parent must send in a dated note that details this change. If a teacher does not receive a note, the child will go home the regular method.

If an emergency arises during the day and a parent must change the manner in which their child goes home, the parent must come in (with picture ID) to the office or must fax the request to the office with a signature and copy of the picture ID on the fax. The student will be notified at the end of the day of the change. This must be done before 1:35 PM.

Rainy Days:  Please make sure you have an alternate plan for dismissal during rainy days and the teacher knows the alternate plan.  If there is not an alternate plan, your child will go home based on the usual way he/she goes home in the afternoons.

The Ocala Springs Elementary School Annual Title I Meeting will be held from 9:30 - 9:45 AM. Information will also be aired out through the school during the orientation.
