Class of 2013 - Important Senior Information
Print Senior Information Sheet Here
Seniors will receive their Senior Information sheet in 2nd Period on Monday, May 6. The form is to be signed by the student and their parent or guardian and the bottom portion returned to Student Services by Friday, May 17, 2013.

Textbook Collection - All seniors will turn in their textbooks on May 20-23 through their English classes or before or after school.

Senior Information Sheets - Senior Information Forms were distributed by 2nd period teachers in Monday, May 6. Sheets are to be signed by senior and parent or guardian and must be returned by Friday, May 17, 2013 to Student Services.

Cap & Gown distribution will be on Wednesday May 29 during lunch. Gowns will also be available for purchase for $75 cash or money order made payable to Herff Jones. In order to receive or purchase your cap and gown seniors must be clear of all debts and must return all textbooks.

Online Courses - All online courses for seniors must be completed and final grade reports turned in to guidance by Friday, May 24.

Seniors last day of school is Friday, May 31. Attendance is mandatory in order to participate in graduation. Seniors will report to 1st period for attendance. After morning announcements seniors will be dismissed to the PAC. Senior breakfast is at approximately 10:00. Mandatory graduation practice will follow the senior breakfast. Honor cords will be distributed during graduation practice.

Baccalaureate, Sunday, June 2 at 3:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center - This event is conducted by the community to celebrate graduation. Students who attend should wear their cap and gown to the ceremony. Attendance is optional. Students who wish to participate should arrive by 2:45.

Graduation, Friday, June 7 at 6:00 PM at West Port Stadium - All graduates must arrive by 4:30 PM at the Performing Arts Center.
Graduates should be sure to leave all backpacks, purses, and cell phones in their vehicles during the ceremony as these items will not be allowed on the field.
If these items are brought into the Performing Arts Center they will be collected and returned to the graduate after the ceremony has ended.
GRADUATION DRESS CODE FOR SENIORS:
Girls: A dress, or skirt (at least knee length) and blouse, or dress pants outfit, and dress shoes.
Boys: White dress shirt with dark slacks, a tie, and dark dress shoes.
Both: No jeans, denim, shorts, flip flops, shower shoes, or tennis shoes will be allowed. This is a formal, celebratory occasion and we must dress accordingly.

Registration has begun for the 2013-2014 school year. It is important that you make your course selections carefully because the courses that you select will put you on the path to your future. The curriculum guide provides you with valuable information to help you make an informed decision. All students will receive a new curriculum guide when registration materials are distributed. Early College Program at WPHS
Why wait to graduate from high school to start earning college credit?
The Early College program offered at West Port High is a cooperative effort between the College of Central Florida and the Marion County School Board to provide enhanced learning opportunities for qualified high school students through the effective use of community college programs and resources.
Qualified WPH students may accelerate their college education through dual enrollment courses offered on our campus. West Port is the only high school in Marion County which offers a full range of dual enrollment courses taught right here on our campus with no need to travel to the college campus. Dual enrollment courses are available to eligible students at no cost!

Allows qualified students to earn college credit and high school credit at the same time.

Provides quality, college-level instruction at the high school location during regular school hours.

Provides tuition and college text books to public school students at no cost.

Provides highly qualified teaching faculty who meet the criteria of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges.

Provides selected course offerings in general education courses widely accepted and generally transferable for upper-division enrollment.

Parent Portal
Parents now have the opportunity to keep a close eye on their student’s grades by registering for the Parent Portal. The Parent Portal will give parents the opportunity to go into the teachers’ gradebooks and monitor the academic performance of their child. Registering is simple. West Port parents should stop by the front office to register for the Parent Portal. You will need a valid photo ID. Once your identification has been verified, you will be given a PIN and a set of activation directions. You can register all of your children at one school even if some of them do not attend that school. Parents can complete the account activation at home within five minutes by following the online prompts. Teachers will begin entering grades after Labor Day.

PERT Study Guide
Use the link below to access the study guide for Florida's Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.). The purpose of the P.E.R.T. is to adequately assess a student's academic skills in mathematics, reading, and writing through the delivery of three tests. The results of these tests are used to determine placement into the appropriate courses when the student enters college.

Did you know that you can graduate from high school in 3 years?
Did you know that you can earn high school credits and college credits at the same time?
Did you know that you can take college courses for free while you are still in high school?
Marion County Public Schools and the State of Florida offer all this and more.
