West
Port High School begins its 13th year of operation during the 2012-2013
school year. We are unique in that we are the home of the Marion County Center for the Arts,
the only visual/performing arts magnet program in Marion County and the Early College Program, a cooperative effort between the College of Central Florida and the Marion County School Board to provide enhanced learning opportunities for qualified high school students through the effective use of community college programs and resources. Our
business partner is Munroe Regional Medical Center and they support
student and staff recognition and our Medical Arts Program.
We
are situated in the southwest corner of Ocala. This area is rapidly
growing as new developments are locating in southwest Marion County.
Along with that new growth is the increase of families with children
in high school. Presently we have a student population of 2250.
West
Port High School encourages parental involvement and community support.
School improvement and educational accountability are major goals for
all who are committed to making West Port a major contributor to the
welfare and development of our students.
West
Port High School participates in and offers a variety of co-curricular,
extra-curricular, and athletic activities within our program. WPHS,
a member of the Florida High School Activities Association, offers and
encourages our students to take part in a wide selection of seasonal
athletic activities.
