MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of our library and its staff is to provide resources which will support and enhance the total curriculum. Our library media specialists are certified teachers and library information specialists who instruct and assist students and faculty who visit the Library Media Center in their quest for information.

8:15 - 3:45 - Monday-Friday

POLICIES

  • Book loan is 4 books for two weeks.
  • Items can be renewed.
  • Overdue items are charged 5 cents a day per item.
  • MCPS Acceptable Use Policy forms must be on file for Internet access.
  • All Internet access must be for a teacher assignment.
  • Students can use a flash drive or their SkyDrive to save their work.
  • No food or beverages permitted.
  • Printing is 10 cents a page.
  • Copy machine is 10 cents a page.

Destiny
Destiny is the new library media center catalog. Not only is it available at your school computer, but now teachers, students, and parents can log in and access it from home to check out the Marion County library collections anytime, anyplace, anywhere!

Gale Resources
A one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social sciences, sports, technology, and many general interest topics. Millions of full-text articles. Updated daily.
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is based on the print version of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition. The online dictionary includes the main A-Z listing of the Collegiate Dictionary, as well as the Abbreviations, Foreign Words and Phrases, Biographical Names, and Geographical Names sections of that book. It also includes 1,000 illustrations and 25 tables.
BibMe
BibMe is a free automatic bibliography generator that supports MLA, APA, Chicago, and Turabian formatting. BibMe leverages databases provided by Amazon, FindArticles, Yahoo! News, and CiteULike to quickly and accurately AutoFill citation information for you. BibMe will then format the citation information according to the rules and guidelines of the style guides. If you prefer, you can enter your citation information manually. BibMe also contains a quick citation guide to show students the correct syntax for citing in various formats.
Florida Electronic Library
The Florida Electronic Library is a gateway to select Internet resources that offers access to comprehensive, accurate, and reliable information. Available resources include electronic magazines, newspapers, almanacs, encyclopedias, and books, providing information on topics such as current events, education, business, technology, and health issues.
Florida Teens Read
The Florida Association for Media in Education has a young adult reading award for students in grades 9-12, Florida Teens Read. The mission of the program is to encourage Florida teens to read enjoyable, quality literature that will stimulate imagination, awaken curiosity, expand horizons, enhance verbal fluency, and foster critical thinking and a lifelong love for reading and learning.

Teaching Books
TeachingBooks.net is a time-saving portal to thousands of online resources you can use to explore children's and young adult books and their authors.
EBSCO
Provides access to the ERIC (Education Resource Information Center) database, which contains more than 1,300,000 records and links to more than 323,000 full-text documents dating back to 1966. It is also contains the Professional Development Collection, a highly specialized collection of nearly 520 high quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports. The Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.
